ABOUT

Meet Dr. Swetha Mohan Ph.D., a leading expert in the field of neurological disorders and aging. With over 15 years of experience in the field, she has a deep understanding of disease pathogenesis. She has handled patient derived samples and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), created in vitro models of disease and probed them to identify novel targets for drug discovery.

During her Postdoctoral work at the UCSF-MAC, Dr. Mohan's research focussed on molecular aspects of disease in patients with Frontotemporal Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease with a focus on lysosomal biology and UPR stress. She worked with patient-derived cells carrying relevant disease mutations. She used a variety of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopy-based techniques and assays to answer questions. She developed a novel in vitro lysosomal enzyme assay to determine disease protein cleavage.

Swetha's Doctoral research at Simon Fraser University was focussed on sensory changes during aging using Caenorhabditis elegans as model system focusing on neuronal primary cilia which is also implicated in several neurodegenerative diseases. With a strong base in basic science, genetics and cell biology

As an independent consultant, Swetha brings a unique skillset, enormous passion and scientific rigor to all her projects which makes her an excellent asset to any biotech or pharmaceutical company that is looking to advance their programs, gain partnership and bring new solutions.
